FUTA Alumnus Olumide Falade Qualifies for Ekiti State Innovation and Entrepreneurship Grant with Alutamarket
Falade Jerome Olumide, a First Class graduate of Biomedical Technology from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), has been selected to present Alutamarket at the Ekiti State Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programme joining a select group of founders recognised for building technology solutions with real impact.
Alutamarket started with a simple observation. As a student at FUTA, Olumide watched his fellow students lose money to scammers, struggle to find trusted vendors, and run businesses that nobody outside their hostel corridor could see. The campus economy was alive and active but completely unstructured. He decided to build the infrastructure it was missing.
Alutamarket is a digital marketplace designed specifically for Nigerian university campuses. Students create storefronts, list products and services ranging from food and fashion to digital products and errands, and transact securely through a payment system that protects both the buyer and the seller.
Today, the platform has thousands of registered users, with the backing of Federal Ministry of Education and Federal Ministry of Youth Development, and currently across three universities including FUTA, FUOYE, and Veritas University. The platform has also secured 7 institutional partnerships.
Olumide builds and manages Alutamarket through Pyramid Technologies Limited, a technology company focused on building digital infrastructure for Nigerian students and businesses.
